Who we are
8bit Posters operates https://8bitposters.com and is responsible for the personal information we collect to run this shop. For privacy questions or requests, email orders@8bitposters.com or visit our Contact page.
Information we collect
When you order or contact us, we collect information you provide such as your name, email address, billing and delivery addresses, telephone number where requested, order details, personalisation requests and correspondence. If you create an account, we also hold account and order-history information. If you report a problem, we may receive photographs or other information you send us.
Our website and service providers also process technical information such as IP addresses, browser and device information, session identifiers, pages requested and security logs. Payment providers process the payment details you enter; our shop receives information such as payment status, transaction references and limited payment-method details needed to administer your order.
How and why we use information
- Orders and customer service: to take payment, supply downloads, print and deliver orders, answer questions and handle returns. Our lawful basis is performing our contract with you or taking steps you request before a contract.
- Legal records: to keep records required for tax, accounting and other legal obligations. Our lawful basis is compliance with those obligations.
- Security and administration: to protect the shop, investigate fraud, resolve disputes and maintain reliable services. We rely on our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the business, balanced against your rights.
- Marketing and optional tracking: where we use these, we rely on consent where required. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out lawfully.
Information needed to process payment and fulfil an order must be provided if you wish to buy from us. Without it, we may be unable to complete the order. Optional information is not a condition of purchase.
Who receives information
We share relevant information with providers needed to operate the shop: Hostinger for hosting and website services; WooCommerce and its connected services for shop and payment functions; WooPayments and its payment-processing partners or PayPal when you use those payment methods; Gelato and its production and delivery partners for physical fulfilment; and email, security and technical-support providers. We may share information with professional advisers or authorities when necessary for legal obligations or claims.
These providers receive information relevant to their role, such as delivery details for fulfilment or billing and transaction information for payments. Payment companies may also use information as independent controllers for fraud prevention, regulatory compliance and their own service administration.
Cookies, advertising and external content
Cookies and similar technologies support baskets, checkout, account sessions, security and currency preferences. Optional advertising and measurement services, where used, may process information about visits and purchases through Google or Pinterest. Our site also displays TikTok content; loading content from an external service can disclose technical information, including your IP address, to that service.
Consent is required for non-essential cookies unless a legal exception applies. Browser settings let you block or delete cookies, although blocking essential cookies may affect shopping and sign-in. Changing browser settings does not necessarily control every form of server-side data sharing. Contact us with questions or objections about advertising-related processing. Following social-media links takes you to services governed by their own privacy notices.
Customer reviews
The customer reviews displayed on this site were collected from purchases through our previous Etsy shop. They may include a customer’s displayed name, review text, rating and photograph. We use these to show customer feedback, relying on our legitimate interests where appropriate and consent where required. Contact us if you have a question about a review or want us to consider removing personal information.
International processing
Our providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside the United Kingdom, including in the European Economic Area and the United States. Where UK transfer rules apply, transfers must be supported by an applicable adequacy arrangement or appropriate contractual safeguards, together with any additional protections required. You can contact us for information about the destination and safeguards relevant to your data.
How long we keep information
Retention depends on why we hold the information. Order and transaction records are kept for applicable tax and accounting requirements and as needed to handle returns, disputes and legal claims. Account information is retained while needed to provide your account, subject to any records we must keep after closure. Customer-service correspondence is retained while the enquiry and any related complaint or claim remain relevant. Technical logs and optional tracking information are retained according to their operational purpose and the relevant provider’s settings.
The shop does not currently apply a fixed automatic deletion period to completed orders. We assess deletion or anonymisation against the purposes above and applicable legal obligations, including when you make a request.
Your rights and choices
Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of your information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can object to direct marketing at any time. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it. Some rights have legal exceptions, for example where records must be retained by law.
Email us to exercise your rights. We may need reasonable information to verify your identity before responding. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK data-protection regulator, or your local supervisory authority where applicable.
Payment checks and security
Payment providers may use automated fraud and risk checks under their own policies. Contact us if a payment issue affects your order so we can investigate available options. We use access controls and the security measures provided by our hosting and payment services, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Changes and contact
We may update this notice when our services or processing change. The date above identifies the latest version. For questions about this notice, contact orders@8bitposters.com.
